Star Student – KS4

This week’s KS4 star student is Joe Lamonby. He has completed a fantastic guide to Medieval medicine. He is a brilliant student that really has gone above and beyond. Well done Joe, keep up the great work!

 

The KS4 star student is Thomas Bolam for his lead role in Les Miserables. Despise him being ill Thomas has been fully committed to the school production and has been extremely reliable, dedicated, and hard working. Thomas deserves huge recognition for his effort in the production. Well done Thomas!
This week’s star student for KS4 is Olivia Hope for excellent written work in Drama. Not only is her written work excellent but she is a role model for students throughout Painsley. Keep up the great work Olivia!
Lucy Lowe in Year 11 has been nominated for Textiles. She has worked exceptionally hard over Christmas and since the beginning of term to complete her quirky clown inspired GCSE practical work. Her bodice and skirt have been manufactured to an exceptional standard. She should be really proud of the progress she has made. Well done Lucy.
This week’s KS4 star student is Lily Martin for History. She is a consistently excellent student and always achieves her target grade. This latest piece of work on the Munich Putsch is exceptional. Not only is it beautifully presented, but the content is thoroughly researched. Brilliant work Lily.
The KS4 star student award goes to Charlotte Woodall for her work in Food Technology, this was an excellent dish made by Y10 student Charlotte Woodall. Carrot purée, balsamic and basil tomatoes, potato croquettes and garlic lemon and herb marinated chicken. Well done Charlotte!
star-student-trinity The KS4 star student award goes to Trinity Condliffe for Spanish who has produced an incredible piece of homework, she is very hard working and receptive during Spanish lessons. Well done Trinity!
2 The KS4 star student is Charlotte Woodall in year 10 for an outstanding piece of homework in English. She created a revision resource for ‘A Christmas Carol’ that went above and beyond expected requirements. Well done Charlotte, keep up the great work!
1 Alex Boulton – Completed a fantastic evaluation of the importance of music in Catholic liturgy. He is an independent well motivated student who approaches every task with a lovely smile. Well done Alex! Keep up the great work!
Sophie-Mai McQuire in year 10 is an outstanding textiles student. Her work is creative, technically challenging and commercial. Her American diner/ Cocoa Cola influences can been clearly seen throughout her work. She is an independent well motivated student who approaches every task with a lovely smile. She is one to watch for the future.
Lydia Finney RE Lydia Finny in Year 10 has been nominated for the KS4 Star Student award in RE. She has exceeded her target in the mock exam and has worked hard all year round. This is a real achievement to be producing such great work. Well done Lydia!
KS4 Laura Davies in 10AJ has been nominated for the Star Student award in Textiles. Laura has been producing outstanding work in Textiles and working very independently on her textiles pieces. This is a real achievement to be producing such great work independently. Well done Laura!
Brendan Lovatt Jack Hammond and Jack English have both been nominated for the Star Student award in Maths. They both obtained merits in the follow up round to the maths challenge. This is a real achievement and very difficult to get through to the follow up round but they both finished in the top 25%. Well done boys!
184160171 Hayden Whalley Year 10 Spanish and Megan Smith and Freya Parnham Year 10 French have all been nominated for the Star Student award this is for an excellent performance in their speaking exam. Well done to all!
kristian Benjamin Deeth has been nominated for the Star Student award in History. He is a totally transformed character from last year. He now works unbelievably hard and achieved 100% on an exam question last week, the only one from 2 classes. I’m so proud of him, and of his attitude. Well done Ben!
img Isobel Allen has been nominated for the Star Student award in History. This is for producing a fantastic piece of work on fashion in the 1920s. It has clearly taken an amazing amount of time and it is massively informative and interesting. Isobel is a brilliant student who constantly works hard and this is another piece of work that shows her dedication to her studies.

Christopher Howells has been nominated for the Star Student award in Biology. I would like to congratulate Christopher on his continued effort and determination to succeed. Well done!
Charlie Johnson and Morgan Barton (Y9) have both been nominated for the Star Student award in food technology. They both go above and beyond in this subject and have done since they started the GCSE course in September. They take great pride in their work, both theoretical and practical and they work extremely well as a team. Well done girls!
640_cross-country William Wretham has been nominated for KS4 Star Student in GCSE PE. He performed exceptionally well on the GCSE PE trip to gain a top score in Rock Climbing towards his GCSE PE overall practical grade. He was spoken of very highly by all members of the PE staff and the Shugborough staff. William encouraged others within the group to achieve their maximum and was always willing to support those around him. It was an absolute pleasure to have William on the GCSE PE trip and he should be congratulated on his fantastic effort, attitude and commitment.
cri_05-10-2015_16-00-09 Agatha Slater has been nominated for the star student award for the production of her poster about ‘whisking to ribbon’, ‘folding in’ and ‘the fingertip test’ – all techniques that Y9 used when making their Swiss rolls whilst investigating the function of eggs in cakes.
joseph James Wilson has been nominated for the KS4 Star Student award in Biology. James secured 100% on a recent assessment which was a full GCSE paper. This result evidences James’ commitment and determination. Well done James!

Jack English has been nominated for the KS4 Star Student award in maths. Jack obtained a gold certificate in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge, placing him in the top 7% nationwide. He was also invited to take part in IMOK Olympiad, where he received a merit. This places him in the top fraction of a percent! Well done Jack!
DC 10A1 David Cook has been nominated for the KS4 Star Student award in Computer Science. David has produced Python code that is of A level standard.  Well done David!
maddie Maddie Bragg been nominated  for the Star Student award in Art and Design. She has worked extremely hard and has produced some fantastic artwork. The drawings shown are based on the theme of ‘steam punk’. She has an outstanding work ethic and attitude towards her work. Well done Maddie!
KS4 Emilia Good has been nominated for the KS4 Star Student award. This is for fantastic work in French. She always tries her best and pushes herself to work beyond her target grade. She always asks for extra work and helps other students with their class work too. She is a pleasure to teach.

640_cross-country Darren Morrey has been nominated as the KS4 Star Student for competing in the Staffordshire School cross country at Staffordshire University. In this he came 8th and has now qualified to represent Staffordshire in the ALL ENGLAND cross country championships at Blackburn. If Darren comes in the top 10 of this race he will represent England against other nations. Well done Darren!
photo Lucy Martin has been nominated for the KS4 Star Student award in textiles. She is an outstandingly independent student, who obviously loves textiles. She sews at home for pleasure and has just up-cycled one of her mum’s vintage outfits into a beautifully stylish beaded dress and jacket.
photo Jean-Luc Hepburn, Georgia Howe and Megan Hodge have been nominated for the Star Student award in Geography. They all achieved an A* in their recent exam. Well done!
James Wilson has been nominated for the Star Student award for using logs to solve a UKMT challenge question. Students do not meet logs until A level! Well done James!

olivia Georgia Goldstraw has been nominated for the Star Student award in textiles. She is a super enthusiastic textile student. I love her attitude and her independent approach to her work. She is an excellent greeter and explains what we are doing concisely and accurately in a friendly manner. She always goes the extra mile. Her work this year is delightful. I was really impressed that she had a sleep over and made a number of  poppies for the poppy appeal. Well done.
