In Y7 and Y8, students follow a varied programme of study covering a wide range of reading and writing types as well as opportunities for speaking and listening in a variety of contexts. Students are monitored via a range of strategies, including commonly assessed pieces of work, teacher assessment, controlled assessment and peer and self-assessment, as well as periodical exams. Homework is an important part of KS3 and students can expect, on average to get up to an hour of English homework a week.
