KS5 - Years 12 and 13

Students achieving at least a grade B at GCSE can go on to study for AS and A level Mathematics at the Moorlands.  Mathematics is a very highly valued AS and A level, by both Universities and employers.  It is a challenging course but one which can support students’ studies in almost every other subject.

You need to complete three modules to achieve an AS level which includes two core modules and one applied module.  A further three modules are required to achieve a full A level.  The applied modules offered are usually Mechanics, Probability and Statistics and Decision Mathematics.  All assessment is via written examination with no coursework component.

There is also the opportunity to study for AS and A Level Further Maths.  Students need to achieve at least a grade A at GCSE.  This course is taught in conjunction with Keele University.  There is usually a short coursework element to this course.
