Art at Painsley

This part of the school curriculum delivers the teaching of creativity. Students will learn how to pursue their individual ideas and skills to do this. They will learn how to appreciate art in their own culture and that of others. They will learn about preserving their heritage and identitity in the changing world in which we live.

Art at Painsley is a challenging and enjoyable experience. We aim to encourage all students to fulfil their creative potential. We offer skills based experiences in Key stage 3 in painting drawing and sculpture which lead on to GCSE in Year 9 -11.

There is an opportunity to sit more than one GCSE and students can take GCSEs in Applied Art, Fine Art, Critical studies, and Photography as well as the general Art course. Several visits to London galleries are arranged  as well as Birmingham and the Yorkshire sculpture park. We have artists in residence working with students annually.

We have excellent results at all levels: last year we were pleased to achieve 100%  A- C grades. Natural progression is to the Moorlands Sixth form where we offer Art and Photography A level courses.
