The next PTA meeting will take place on Tuesday 8th May, 6.30 pm at the College.  All welcome.

Painsley Catholic College focussed upon charity work this week as it enjoyed its annual Harvest festival; students having collected food and distributed it to people in the local community.

The festival falls in line with the annual Family Fast Day, where some students participated in a twenty-four hour fast for CAFOD, a charity committed to helping developing countries. The school raised more than £300 for this worthy cause.

Year 7 students at Painsley Catholic College were recently presented with a copy of the New Testament from the Gideons’ International Society.

The Gideons’ Society distributed the Bibles to help share the Christian message and recognises the importance of placing a Bible into the hands of individuals. Each student in Year 7 received a Book for their own personal use and new members of Staff also received a Bible from Mr & Mrs Egerton.

On Wednesday 5^th October students from Painsley Catholic College took part in a Pastoral/Citizenship morning, exploring themes related to the Citizenship and PSHE curriculum. Year 7 students explored Democracy and during the morning held Year Council elections to enable all students to participate. Year 8 students explored the work of charities and welcomed a speaker from the Donna Louise Trust to explain how charities operate. Students went on to explore charities and devise active citizenship programmes to support the work of charities. Year 9 students explored themes related to human rights looking at the holocaust, in preparation for a Year group visit to Beth Shalom, the holocaust Centre. Year 10 students focused on International Humanitarian law working through issues related to asylum, landmines and war. Year 11students were working on applications and CV, whilst preparing themselves for the future and the world of work. The morning was a huge success and enabled students to explore vital issues related to themselves and their future in society.
