Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome ...
The Modern Foreign Languages Department at Painsley is a lively department made up of five teachers and languages’ assistants, aiming to give every student the opportunity to study at least one foreign language to GCSE level.
French, German and Spanish are taught in a modern purpose-built suite. Lower school students are offered the opportunity to learn Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Arabic and Chinese throughout the year at the popular lunchtime Languages Club.
Results at GCSE and Advanced Level are excellent, and students are motivated by a comprehensive programme of trips and visits to venues locally and abroad.
The department is committed to helping students for whom English is a Foreign Language to settle quickly into the Painsley community. Where possible, we enter them for GCSE in their mother tongue.
The ability to understand and communicate in other languages is increasingly important in the modern global community. Languages contribute to the cultural and linguistic richness of our society; to mutual understanding, success in international trade and global citizenship.
