Painsley Catholic College shared in the season of goodwill this week as
senior citizens of the local community were invited to the school for its annual
Christmas party.
When they arrived in school they were warmly greeted by students from the ‘Reach Out in the Community with Care and Kindness’ scheme. The afternoon was very busy, full of festive activities. The music was provided by the school’s musical groups and the Food Technology department prepared the food.
Mrs Pat Sowter, Lay Chaplain, who co-ordinates the programme, commented that, “This year has been a great success. It is important to share a positive experience at Christmas with people living in the local community who need the help and support of others. The community service programme and this party is a wonderful opportunity for the pupils to take time to help other people in their lives.”
One of the participants remarked “that the party was one of the highlights of her year”.
