WRL and Enterprise has is an important part of the KS4 curriculum. Over the 2 years in Y10 and Y11 all students experience dedicated days of WRL and Enterprise education where the students are taken off timetable to participate in a variety of activities. These days intend to equip the students with skills that allow them to prepare to enter the world of work post 16. They are encouraged to develop their skills of teamwork, responsibility, communication, ICT, target setting, leadership, problem-solving and risk-taking to name but a few. Painsley also tries to ensure that students are given the opportunity to interact with business volunteers on these days and we are lucky to have fantastic support from many local employers.
Students also have opportunities to visit local colleges and universities in order to support their decisions regarding their studies post 16. Mrs Cleary is also on hand to support our students in these decisions both at year 11 parents evening, the careers convention, their one-to-one careers interview and on results day in the summer term.
In addition, we work closely with Mrs Dodson and the Painsley Sixth Form College in order to give students as many opportunities to experience college life as possible. In year 10, students participate in ‘Maximising your potential day’ over at the sixth form and in year 11, we arrange small group tours of the college, guided by our current students.
