Sports News!

Last week was a very busy week for the PE department with rugby, netball and football fixtures all taking place.
The year 11 boys football team unfortunately lost to Moorside and Blythe after two very interesting games of football. The boys should be proud of their achievements over the 5 years representing Painsley and have shown a great attitude throughout. We wish them well as they continue their footballing journeys and look forward to seeing some of them representing the Painsley sixth form.
Year 8 boys also lost to Moorside in another interesting game where we nearly lost half the team due to the grass being so long! A fantastic season from the Year 8’s means we have progressed to the cup final! Good luck!
Year 7 boys beat Moorside 5-0, luckily their pitch had seen the mower this year! Year 7 really have been phenomenal this season, they have won the league without conceding a goal, they are in the league cup final against Woodhouse and in the district cup final against Moorside. Exciting things to come!
Year 7 and 8 netball teams both won their tournaments in emphatic style, which means this year every netball team from Year 7-11 have won both the cups and the league, a remarkable stat! A special mention to Macie who won Mrs Kettrick’s ‘player of the tournament’.
We also saw a great effort from the Year 9 and 10 rugby team last week, narrowly losing to Stone Alleynes 36-24. These boys are showing great potential for next year’s rugby season.
Please see the extra-curricular timetable for upcoming sporting events.
